A 38-year-old Taneytown man, John W. Holt Jr., remains in the Frederick County detention center on murder charges after a district court bond review. Holt is charged with first and second degree murder among other crimes for a shooting in Emmitsburg that killed 32-year-old Robert A. Stream. The incident involved Holt breaking into Stream’s home, assaulting Stream’s occupant, and shooting Stream with a .357 Magnum before fleeing. Holt admitted the shooting to police, saying he acted to protect his wife and daughter. His wife testified she loves him and wants him home. The bond judge heard from Holt and his attorney, who asked for a reasonable bond with home as collateral.
