Genovese Indicted in Major Narcotics Case
New York AP reports Vito Genovese, longtime mob figure, was named in a 37 defendant federal indictment for an international narcotics ring. The case covers dope channels from Europe, Cuba, Puerto Rico and Mexico with major sale areas including New York Chicago Philadelphia Cleveland and Las Vegas. Bail set at 50000. each defendant could face 5 to 20 years. Genovese claimed to be a legitimate businessman in packaging and relabeling. Poor prison locks also noted in Baltimore, with a state inquiry promised into worn cell hardware and potential improvements.
