Judge Defers Sentence In Robbery Case
Associate Judge Stedman Prescott deferred sentence for Richard Brightwell a 19 year old Frederick youth who pleaded guilty to participating in a Nu Maid Products safe robbery on January 18 in a car driven by Brightwell Clem and Barker entered the building removed the 260 pound safe they placed it in a shack nearby and broke it open getting about 400 in cash and checks. Brightwell Clem each got about 35 dollars and Barker about 40 dollars. The loot included unendorsed checks burned and the safe was dropped into the Monocacy river. The court will sentence soon after considering testimony and letters from physicians and employers offering rehabilitation.
