Edith Alford, NAACP leader and gospel singer, dies
Edith Addison Alford, founder of Souls on Fire and longtime Frederick NAACP leader, died Monday from Lou Gehrig's disease at 66. A civil rights marcher with Dr Martin Luther King Jr and an educator, she was honored by Thurmont Ministry with a Neighbor Award and taught in Frederick County schools. A funeral will be at Asbury United Methodist Church with Rev. Maurice Moore officiating.
