A Baltimore Photon outpost draws 20 somethings into six and a half minute rounds where players wear $5,000 worth of gear and chase a light beam through a foggy arena. The emphasis is strategy, stealth, and teamwork as players defend a base and zap opponents to score points.

Street Noise aims for album and growing local buzz
Street Noise, a Frederick quartet formed from members of Head First Joker's Wild and Full House, plans an album and original material as they tour venues from P L Cahoots to the Bayou. The band plays 50s to 80s rock with a driving, danceable sound and a strong crowd focus. They perform Sunday at 7 30 p m at the Baker Park bandshell as part of Frederick’s Summer Concert Series.

Smithsonian film draws 10 millionth viewer at Air and Space
Regina Doll of Thurmont bought a ticket to the IMAX film To Fly on June 30 becoming the theater’s 10 millionth viewer. Smithsonian officials honored her with a certificate, gift shop certificate, a video of the film, a balloon ride certificate, and a copy of The National Air and Space Museum. Her grandson John accompanied her as museum director Martin Harwit and DuPont official Stacey Mobley acknowledged the milestone. The film has drawn worldwide attention with an estimated 250 million viewers in 33 theaters since opening July 1, 1976.
