Protest prompts action on railroad signals in Delaware
Arthur Lodge and fellow student Heidi Veithofer lead campus political groups advocating signals at unmarked rural railroad crossings. State and federal funds will back nearly 1.5 million dollars to install lights at 26 crossings in Kent and Sussex counties by December 1983, coordinated with a separate 4 million Conrail rail upgrade project. Lodge credits the effort with prompting government action and vows continued influence.

Bargmann and Peter Kowey with attorney Allen Greenberg discuss a Frederick project surveying one discharge diagnosis per patient rather than full charts. Cardiologist Kowey notes no finger pointing, but calls data worth evaluation as similar studies report about a 20 percent rate of unnecessary pacemaker implants.
