The National Fire Academy may move to an 85 acre Washington campus at 17th Street and Kalmia Road NW costing 25 million dollars to purchase and 2 million to renovate. The board favored Marjorie Webster Junior College as first choice but Washington could host classes soon and approval rests with Commerce Secretary Elliott Richardson.

Vo Tech water pact seals county city agreement at FCC site

County commissioners and Frederick city leaders reached a water service agreement for the vocational training school on Frederick Community College campus. The deal tears up an old contract and ties a new $400,000 loop to improved flow and pressure, with the city waiving a $63,000 hookup charge in return for relinquishing a claim to up to $55,000 of FCC line costs. The plan also guarantees water to a proposed Opossumtown Pike site and ensures fire capacity with the new loop.
