The era of abnormal spring and early summer weather has caused widespread sickness nationwide. Strong and weak alike are urged to use Paine's Celery Compound in July and August to restore energy, feed the nerves, purify the blood, improve digestion, and promote restful sleep. One bottle is claimed to yield happy results.
Reports from Venezuela state that 3,000 government troops under General Modesto Castro were routed on July 3 between Barcelona and Aragua by revolutionary forces commanded by General Rolando. Government troops lost ammunition and equipment as many deserted. Barcelona was surrounded and cities' residents panicked as shops closed.

Altoona Pennsylvania July 8 Freight Conductor Luckett was killed yesterday at Allegrippus a point six miles west of Altoona when his west bound train broke in two and three cars were wrecked The conductor was crushed between the broken cars Pittsburg to Sweitering July reports list six deaths and a score of prostrations the hottest day of the season with mill workers suffering and many returning home

In Manhattan a man shot his wife fatally wounded a friend and then killed himself after forcing entry to his home. Farewell, a family friend, attempted to intervene but was shot twice. The coroner reported both men died. The incident follows prior burglary imprisonment and family strife.
Canal rate change prompted sorrow over Nicaragua land losses. B W Pyle, 72, a bachelor and former Nicaragua landowner, shot himself at Garfield Park Sanitarium after arriving in Chicago less than a year ago for cataract treatment. He hailed from Richmond, Virginia, and had lived in Central America two decades.
Five workers from the Southern Bell Telegraph Company were struck by lightning while stretching a wire in two construction sections five miles apart. Three white men and two Black men died. one white man and one Black man were injured. Authorities report the severe storm caused the fatalities in Offerman, Georgia. The incident occurred during a two-section operation about five miles apart. Two gasbeats are under arrest.
Rev John Hay Cushing of Denver Colorado arrives at Sagamore Hill to petition President Roosevelt about Ambassador Meyer in Rome. Cushing alleges 28 priests were ousted from Denver diocese by Bishop Matz and complains of neglect by Meyer and Consul De Castro regarding his rights as an American citizen. He cites alleged funding of the bishops battle and prior arrests in Rome with retaliation claims.
In thick fog the Cumberland and Admiral Farragut collided in Boston harbor. Cumberland returned to port with passengers aboard and began rapid flooding. Repairs and cargo loss may total about $100,000 while Farragut sustains costly forward damage and will need repairs.
Burlington New Jersey July 8 six local shoe factories idle for first time in twenty years due to conflict with workers unionized as Burlington Boot and Shoe Workers Union No. 1. Factories posted non union labor only notices last week and no union workers reported for duty yesterday amid ongoing dispute. Two Boys Drowned In River Near Peoria Illinois July 8 four youths Frank Cannon Frank Case William Ayr and Joseph Blordell rowed on the river when Cannon grasped Case’s neck drowning him three were rescued.
London July 8 King Edward to be crowned between August 11 and 13 with a curtailed pageant. The royal route remains Buckingham Palace to Westminster Abbey, though much reduced from plans. The king's recovery is described as rapid and satisfactory with no official notification yet.
London July 8 Colonial Secretary Joseph Chamberlain sustained a severe head wound after the cab struck the Canadian arch when the horse slipped. He was rushed to Sharing Cross hospital with heavy bleeding but officials said the injuries were not serious. The imperial defense conference slated for today was postponed due to the accident.
Simon and Andy Luvehock, brothers, confessed to murdering Andy Magueschiah of Bakers Town, Cambria County, after a quarrel over two women. They stabbed him with daggers and placed the body on railroad tracks where a train dragged it, the head separated from the trunk.
