Five Machida officials led by deputy mayor Shahya Makita toured Frederick on a three day visit to discuss a sister city relationship. Sally Murphy hosted the delegation at City Hall and downtown sites, noting mutual cultural exchange and student programs as the goal.

Interstate repaving planned for I-270 and I-70 in Frederick County
Frederick County will see night work on I-270 and I-70 this summer under ISTEA funding. SHA engineer Doug Rose said resurfacing from the Montgomery County line to Bennett Creek and the I-70 corridor near Myersville will begin by August and last three to four months. The SMA asphalt promises 15 to 18 years of life with quick lane openings and added safety features.
