Grand Republic Fireboat Saves Passengers After Steamer Fire

A grand Republic excursion steamer suffered a lower bay fire near Nocktaway Beach as hundreds of passengers panicked. Crew, led by Captain Carmen, fought the blaze, deployed life preservers, and diverted to Crescent Athletic Club dock. Tugs aided, passengers evacuated safely with no serious injuries reported.

Fire Aboard Grand Republic Sparks Bayfront Rescue

Canary in cage ends its life by hanging itself

Seaford Delaware July 7 grieving over the death of a canary owned by Mrs. Harmonmoid who had sung for over two years the little canary made several attempts to end its life by hanging itself in the top of its cage. Its method was to push its head between the bars and drop its feet. After the cage door was opened the bird refused to come out and later refused to eat. The canary was a beautiful songster.

Insurance Agent Robbed and Shot Near Kingston Pa

Adam Dunn, an agent for Prudential Insurance, was waylaid by two masked men near his home in Kingston. He was struck, shot in the right shoulder, and robbed of money after spending the day making collections. He was knocked senseless, carried into a field, and left suffering until help arrived.
