Plane makes emergency landing near Frederick MD
A single engine Piper Cub diverted to a forced landing behind the Maryland Motor Vehicles Administration building in Frederick. Pilot taken to Frederick Memorial Hospital for a checkup, and a passenger reported uninjured. The aircraft took off from Frederick Municipal Airport at about 8 20 am. Local police identified the pilot as Harry Mark Austine of Carroll Valley PA and noted a passenger named Timothy Monroe was aboard.

Frederick hosts a weekend of events the Fourth of July celebration featured the First Fourth of July Firecracker Fiddling Contest and the Eighth Annual Chili Cookoff.
