Pennsylvania Dutch Influence Noted in Frederick County
Frederick County is highlighted in the 12th annual Pennsylvania Dutch Folk Festival in Kutztown. Dr. Don Yoder notes Moravians from Bethlehem and Nazareth founded Graceham and helped spread the Pennsylvanial Dutch culture into Maryland and Virginia. He cites old almanacs, Dutch barns, traditional foods, hex lore, and living folk customs as lasting traces, with Frederick County aiding in the region's Pennsylvanian Dutch religious and social practices.
