An inspection of fields near New Market and surrounding towns reveals smut damage in several localities including Burkli wave Petersville Lewistown New Market and Barbitisvile. About 75 000 acres were planted with wheat in the county one third treated for disease and corn and grass acreage also discussed.

Asterning received a 20 day suspended sentence on leaving town. Hofman and others faced fines or collateral for disorderly or drunken conduct. Spring was arrested for reckless driving and will be tried Monday. Potts faces a preliminary hearing for clothing fraud.
