New Bedford Massachusetts July 6 Henry B. Stone former president of the Chicago Burlington and Quincy railroad and Chicago Telephone Company died instantly at Nonquitt from a day fireworks explosion. He was visiting with family and leaves a widow and four children. Five more fatalities occurred in Chicago from Fourth of July celebrations including James W. Keene Charles Smith John Hoffweter 12 years old John Thomas 12 years old and William Alles 8 years old. Other reports include a disaster at Ethel Missouri where a roman candle exploded in a crowd and a drowning at Atlantic City Longport New Jersey. A stray shot fatally wounded Italian laborer Cornelius Dartod in Long Island City. Two juvenile Victims in New York George Wolfert 13 and Maggie McCarthy 15 were shot during celebrations. West Superior Wisconsin reported four dead from a boat capsizing.

Patrick Grace and his wife were shot during a saloon robbery attempt at 1301 West Forts seventh street in Chicago. Separately in Newport News, Virginia, about $1 000 in cash and stamps were stolen from the post office with a dynamite charge. A church in St Jonquaire Quebec was struck by lightning killing one and injuring several. In Cincinnati a man named Fred Neem was fatally stabbed in a jealousy dispute. Eight bathers drowned along Chicago beaches in Lake Michigan.

He argues city officials shape commercial ethics education and family life and calls for prayer for mayors common councils police and prison inspectors. He warns Tyre like cities forgotten by God and urges revival of Christian influence in municipal matters.
Sir John Bennett, renowned London watchmaker, has died aged 79. Born in Greenwich in 1814, he trained in Cheapside and later served on the City of London Common Council since 1962. He was sheriff of London and Middlesex in 1871–72 and sat on the London School Board from 1872 to 1879. three times elected alderman of Cheap ward, though London aldermen did not ratify each election. The queen knighted him at the end of his shrievalty.
At a Populist conference in Lashville Tennessee yesterday Jake MacDow of Union City accused rival Lindsley of backing Republicans. MacDowell attacked Lindsley with a cane, they scuffled, and were separated without serious injuries amid years of bad blood.
