County Waives Five Year Stand on Land for Annexation
Frederick County Commissioners voted to waive a five year development restriction on two farms northeast of Frederick to allow annexation by the city. The plan would add 70 acres for housing and could bring 300 students to area schools, with density zoning up to three to five units per acre if annexed. The city seeks immediate city taxes and to assign sewer taps, while state highway land would receive industrial zoning for five years. A July 12 public hearing will address objections and policy changes.

Ringo Starr joined the Beach Boys for part of the show and Mike Love teased a return next year as organizer Jay Geiser praised the family atmosphere and high turnout. Police reported 24 arrests, mostly for alcohol offenses, matching last year’s figure and well below 1982 levels. Geiser plans an expanded celebration next year and aims to preserve the nostalgic, festival mood.
