School board member warns closure ordeal will haunt years
Frederick Maryland July 3 1983 Jonathan Lipson warned that the school closure ordeal and its legal political residue will haunt the board for years as the Maryland State Board of Education reversed three major closure and policy decisions including moving contraception from eighth to ninth grade and a kindergarten through eighth grade policy. Lipson said he leaves with unfinished business and rued weak health curriculum and calls for sensitivity among the board while praising Superintendent Edward Andrews. His successor Kurt Hirsch will take the helm as Lipson reflects on a politically charged year and the Rosemary Hills Blair High School adjustments.
