Two Fined by Magistrate Bennett for Disturbance in Market Street
In police court last night Magistrate Alton Y. Bennett fined Gladys Dorsey colored 2.56 for disturbing the peace and Harry Maker colored 2.50 for interfering with an officer. The case grew from an incident on Market street where two white men invited the women for a ride. Officer Kanode testified the women argued with him and the men. The officer said the girl had made passes at him and the boyfriend claimed the arm was being twisted. Other fines were for drunkenness and assault on nearby streets. A 13-year-old feeble minded boy was picked up for breaking into local properties but no charges were filed due to mental condition.
