Westinghouse faces nuclear suits over steam generator failures
New York and Florida lawsuits seek up to 2 billion dollars against Westinghouse Electric Corp alleging negligent design manufacturing and installation of reactor steam generators. Consolidated Edison and Florida Power & Light demand damages for costly plant shutdowns and replacement power, potentially easing ratepayer bills if won. Westinghouse built 32 of 72 U.S. plants, NRC notes steam tube issues in several reactors.
