Drought Aid For Farmers in Tynteyk County

Fifth District Congressman Richard E. Lankford announced that drought relief allows farmers to recense grazing and buy privileges on diverted cropland. The Agriculture Department has permitted use for drought relief for a second year due to severe lack of forage and pastures. Approval requires action from the County ASC Committee as local officials await notice from government officials.

Eugene Anderson Named to Frederick County Property Review Board

Eugene Anderson a 48 year old dairy farmer from near Thurmont was appointed by the Sixth Judicial Circuit judges to fill a vacancy on the three man Frederick County Board of Property Review. He will serve the remainder of Samuel L. Birely’s term ending June 1 194. The salary is 60 dollars a day when in session. Anderson is a West Virginia University engineering graduate who worked 17 years with Consolidated Engineering Company of Baltimore. The board also includes F Austin James and Austin P Renn.

The July 1 deadline for removing six cabins on government land at Seneca has been extended. Det. Goodloe E. Byron said the extension will allow Sen. Deel B. Brewster to review the issue with others.

Two Men Arrested In Thefts At Construction Projects

State Police arrested Charles Bartholow 21 and George Baker 26 both of Mountaindale on petty larceny and receiving stolen goods charges in a series of thefts at area construction sites. Investigators linked missing chain saws to the pair after tips from contractors and a sting along Putman Road. Bonds set at 5000 and 3000 respectively as the investigation continued.
