Peace Disturbance Case Dismissed For Butler Not Guilty
Magistrate Edward J. Smith found Maxton W. Butler not guilty of peace disturbance and dismissed a resisting arrest charge after defense argued previous complaints on Five and a Half Street were inadmissible. Officer testified Butler urged arrest of others, then ran when approached. Several witnesses testified Butler did not participate in earlier disturbances. Additional defendants, including Hazel Uphold and Paul Croneburg, were found not guilty of related traffic charges. several collateral fines were forfeited for minor speeding violations.
