Reports from Baltimore and statewide circles show Joseph D. Baker of Frederick gaining steady support as a Democratic governor candidate. The Baltimore News and Baltimore American cite growing sentiment for Baker, with rivals including Ex-Governor Brown and potential dark horses under discussion. Supporters note Governor Warfield’s standard and urge a nominee who can uphold it, while Old Guard factions weigh terms and negotiations ahead of the convention.
