In a long-abandoned den at West Van Buren and flalstead streets Chicago workmen uncovered $15000 in bogus coin and currency plus a counterfeiters outfit including plates for making bills. A crowd had to be restrained as police secured the secret vault. Captain Porter of the U S Secret Service says the money was cleverly produced and would defeat many experts.
Philadelphia July 1. It is reported a steamship of 4 500 tons capacity has been chartered to land coal at Cardiff and Philadelphia.
