Confusion Reigns Over New Federal Price and Wage Policy
The public and officials wrestle with a hastily crafted price and wage order. Agencies struggle to implement vague directives amid constant interpretation changes. Exemptions proliferate, leaving businesses and consumers unsure of obligations. The plan aims as a stopgap until more flexible controls emerge, but enforcement is seen as chaotic and undercut by weak staffing and cross agency assistance.
