Four Woodsboro Lutheran charge boards Rev Herbert Schmidt

By unanimous vote four congregations comprising the Woodsboro Lutheran charge have extended a call to Rev Herbert H. Schmidt to succeed Rev Jo Frank Fife who resigned November 30 to accept a pastorate in Baltimore. Schmidt is a graduate of Gettysburg College and Theological Seminary and is expected to accept. The Woodsboro charge includes Evangelical Lutheran Woodsboro Grace Rock Hill Chapel near Haughs and Bear Latiesburg. Rev Fife served eight and a half years. multiple predecessors held longer terms. Schmidt is expected to address the fellowship at Grace Church Haughs tomorrow evening February 1.

Elias Lutheran Choir Expands for Sunday Services

In Emmitsburg the Elias Lutheran church forms a 20 member youth choir to join the regular senior choir for Sunday morning services. Negro Arrested Here Held On $500 Bail

A Hagerstown colored man named Calvin Hill was arrested here by city police with 795 dollars in cash and held on a 500 dollar bond when arraigned in Hagerstown on illegal possession of liquor charges. Officers Burras and Fagan made the arrest. The man had been sought for narcotics peddling, a charge continued in Hagerstown after a raid found four gallons of whiskey.
