Three Vehicle Crash on I 270 Near Urbana
Maryland State Police answered a three vehicle crash on I 270 south of Md 80 in Urbana on Wednesday afternoon. A slow moving vehicle cut off a 1994 Dodge van prompting rear end strikes by two dump trucks. The van driver, Margaret McClay Patterson of Shippensburg, PA, was examined but refused treatment. Drivers Eric Renner of Sharpsburg and John Sowers of Little Orleans sustained minor vehicle damage. no charges were filed.

Health care worker acquitted of abuse
Sherry R. Spriggs, a 28 year old nurse's aide from Maple Street, was acquitted in Frederick County Circuit Court of abusing 94 year old Elmer Highhouse at Homewood Retirement Center. The three day trial heard that Highhouse, restrained in bed during an agitated morning, was under officials' care amid physical and mental infirmities.

Man charged with leaving child in car
A 37 year old Middletown man, Michael Douglas Lake, was arrested after police found his 3 year old daughter unattended in a parked car on Court Street. The child sat strapped in a rear seat car seat for about 45 minutes before the father arrived. He is charged with confining an unattended child.

Police say the 30 year old was stopped near the 1 70 east exit after attempting to elude officers. She was charged with driving while intoxicated fleeing and eluding reckless driving exceeding maximum speed unsafe lane change displaying tags to another vehicle driving without current tags operating an unregistered vehicle failure to produce a driver's license and alcohol restriction violation. Bail hearing scheduled with Frederick County District Court commissioner.
