Leukemia Virus in Cats A Key Health Concern
Veterinary Viewpoint explains feline leukemia as a common cause of illness and death in cats. The virus, first isolated in 1962, is contagious and spread by saliva, affecting mainly kittens and older cats with weaker immunity. Diagnostics include a blood test, but a positive result does not confirm infection, and resistance may exist. A new vaccine is now available for cats over eight weeks, with veterinarians advising consultation for recommendations.
