Escapee Bakey Captured After Court Escape in City
Michael A. Bakey an 18 year old from Sun Land California was recaptured by Frederick police on East Second Street after escaping from a preliminary hearing on forgery charges at a magistrate court. He was returned to the jail while a handwriting expert from Baltimore was awaited for the case alongside co defendant Jesse Wallace Frederick. The escape highlighted insufficient courtroom holding facilities and local officials warned that more prisoners have slipped away when hearings are adjourned. The original bad check of 63 50 at J J Newberrys on December 23 tied to the case. Conspiracy charges against Bakey Wallace and Robert E Toms were dropped by the state.
