Libe rtytown girl critically injured crossing road

A 9 year old Libertytown Elementary third grader Rebecca Stevens was struck by a Ford van as she ran into the road just after being dropped off by a school bus on Daysville Road. She suffered head and internal injuries and remained in critical but stable condition at Children’s Hospital in Washington.

Bus Collision Details Highlight Rescue Efforts

Deputy Shoemaker described a minivan crash on Daysville Road near a stopped school bus. Rebecca Stevens was thrown about 25 feet and knocked unconscious. The van slowed for bus lights and did not speed. neighbor Janet Bowen confirmed the bus was not speeding when Rebecca was struck. Rebecca’s quick transport by Libertytown Fire Department and Union Bridge Medic Unit aided her 36 minute trip to Children’s Hospital. If she survives, credit will go to the emergency responders.

Frederick County teachers approve 3 percent pay rise
