Deaf Merrill Lynch broker in Columbia expands investor network
In Columbia, deaf broker Steve Hlibok advises about 500 hearing impaired clients nationwide. Merrill Lynch launched a Deaf Hard of Hearing Investor Services Network in 1990, now with 75 brokers in 40 states, all equipped with TDD and voice amplifiers. The program grew to about 750 accounts by August, with aims to broaden beyond the deaf community while retaining one on one TDD contact for confidentiality.
