Poffenberger Detroit holdout delays Tigers talks
Detroit pitcher Cletus Boots Poffenberger, a former Williamsport star, has refused to sign with the Tigers until terms are met. From Charleston, W V, he cites a minor league salary issue and a bonus for last season. Tigers owner Walter Briggs Sr will handle negotiations as attendance at Lakeland camp looms. Boots was a key recruit in 1937 and the club aims to bring him in without extending the dispute.
