Stop Distribution Of New Testaments In Schools

Fewer Seedlings Ordered For Planting In Frederick County
65 000 tree seedlings have been ordered for planting next spring in Frederick County says forester Jack Karnig of Maryland Department of Forests and Parks. The 65 000 trees are about one third of the county's available planting stock. A spring planting quota of 200 000 trees was set by the Forest Conservancy Board. Seedlings, grown at Harmans nursery, are free to landowners meeting minimum one quarter acre, with safeguards against grazing and fire. Trees may not be sold with roots. landscaping and ornamental plantings are excluded. Requests are taken at the County Agents office and then forwarded to the forester at Monument 35441. The forester will assess the site and advise on suitable species and numbers. Karnig notes a range of pines and spruces remain available.
