All day kindergarten expansion eyed for Montgomery schools
Montgomery County Board of Education seeks more than 231,900 to fund all day kindergarten and related early childhood programs in fiscal 1988. Board member Blair Ewing urges phased in expansion to reach half of elementary schools by fall 1987, citing tests showing long term gains and urging comprehensive early childhood policy across programs. He also requests 150,000 to start expansion in fiscal 1986 and 50,000 for Head Start and diagnostic testing, with Head Start costs projected at 3.1 million for 1985 and potential growth to include 100 more students.
