Northern skies glow with aurora as solar storms rage
Observers including Miss Leah B Aller at Hood College report a pale corona overhead as the aurora lit the entire sky before 8 o clock. Sunspots described as giant magnetic storms stretch 120000 miles long by 60000 wide, disturbing Earth’s magnetic field and hindering radio and telephone communication. Scientists expect the aurora to recur over the next week or two. Topics also note kitchen ware that keeps food hot and home cleaning tips for mattresses using rattan beaters or vacuums.
