Grand jury indicts Spencer for murder of 9 year old

A Maryland grand jury indicted Spencer for the murder of a 9 year old and for an attempted first degree sex offense. Frederick County State's Attorney Scott Rolle said a June trial is possible if a court approves delays. Rolle will seek guidance from the attorney general on death penalty status, but the decision rests with him.

Frederick spires and cranes frame church renovation scene

Early this morning two tall cranes stood near St John's Church in Frederick, framing the Barr Artz Library renovation as part of the Clustered Spires. Mayor Grimes urged South End residents to help heal divisions, calling out detractors and inviting dialogue in a community room of the public housing project. Luella Rinker dies at 100 in 1998 obituary note

Luella Rinker died at age 100 on 7 1998. Born 18 1908 in County, she was married to J Born and to late O. Survivors include siblings Kathy Pa Mark Bagley LaPista and Chery Holt, along with several relatives.

Minnie Stern 90 Dies in Frederick County

Minnie Ressler Stern, 90, of Frederick, died Tuesday at Frederick Memorial Hospital after a brief illness. Born March 15, 1916 near Kiev, she immigrated to the United States in 1929 with her family, settled in Philadelphia, and owned a clothing store on South Street. She was the wife of Herman Stern, who died in 1978, and is survived by children Eric and Stern, four grandchildren, and several relatives. Funeral services will be held at 10 am. Memorials may be directed to family.
