Iraq Air Force Could Inflict Casualties Through Own Action Attacks
U S and European experts say Iraqs air force is weaker than coalition air power yet could threaten civilian and allied forces via harassment and self-destructive attacks. Most Iraqi planes are hidden in fortified underground shelters, with about 100 good aircraft feared by insiders. Saddam may use pilots to strike U S forces in Kuwait or attack Saudi Arabia or Israel, elevating the danger of mass terror if even a few planes slip through.
