Gaithersburg Mayor presses for school renovations
Gaithersburg Mayor Bruce Goldensohn urged Montgomery County Council to accelerate renovations at Gaithersburg Junior High, calling the facility the second most used in the system and severely overdue for upgrades. He criticized delaying the project until 1990 or 1992 and proposed funding reductions only if needed for critical improvements. PTA leaders backed full modernization, while other officials warned that Gramm Rudmann budget rules threaten funds and demand rapid school construction to meet growth.
