New homes surge 26 percent in Frederick County 1984
Frederick County completed 1,566 dwelling units in 1984, up 404 from 1983. The breakdown includes 718 single family homes, 329 townhouses, 428 apartments, 81 duplexes and 10 mobile homes. Frederick city led with 616 units, Walkersville 151, and New Market region 234.

In 1984 Brunswick planning region completed 38 units including 55 single family homes and three townhouses with 18 in Brunswick Town. Thurmont region added 50 units, 47 single family and three duplexes with Thurmont town accounting for 16. Urbana had 38 single family units and Adamstown 18. Overall 1984 municipal dwelling units totaled 862, more than double 1983's 378 as counties expect continued growth under the Comprehensive Plan amid low interest rates.
