Maryland Senate Opposes Annual Property Reassessments
In Annapolis January 24 the Senate opposed a proposed annual statewide property reassessment. Five Finance Committee members warned of a sharp legislative attack, while Majority Leader Goldstein and Senator Phipps pledged quick repeal measures. Taxpayer groups oppose full cash value taxation and centralized reassessment authority. The Case Commission had urged scrapping the rotational system and realigning district assessments. A related plan would fund state bonds from other revenues, with an emergency clause to reinstate real estate levies if funds run short. Little Falls Minn is noted as Charles A Lindbergh’s birthplace.
