Golden Mile Development Likely to Bring Heavier Traffic
City planners warn the western Frederick County Golden Mile corridor will see intensified traffic with Willowdale, Westridge, and a third retail complex planned near Weis shopping center. With most land now zoned commercial, a potential moratorium on new projects could be considered if congestion worsens, though officials aim to support dense commercial use. Existing routes and Key Parkway need further development to handle growth, and parcels near Hillcrest Orchards, Frederick Ford, and Merchant Tires are expected to attract future development.
