Urbana Civic Association seeks site for MPT tower near Sugarloaf Mountain
Urbana residents press for a site for a Maryland Public Television tower. Dan Duncan says tech limits rule out using the ATT tower near Monrovia and landowners near Sugarloaf Mountain are being contacted for a suitable site. A 2.89 foot pole could work on one property with lease, minimizing visual impact. Concerns focus on potential closure of Urbana Lake park if chosen. MPT eyeing three acres of state land off Dr Perry Road near Sugarloaf Mountain. Residents urge balance between signal needs and preserving Sugarloaf Mountain’s beauty. The state’s Natural Resources Department agreed to review alternate sites. Duncan hopes for a lease to avoid state land use but fears the tower may still be built if no lease is secured.
