Keep both campuses in Maryland Deaf education debate

A Frederick editorial criticizes a proposed move to close the Maryland School for the Deaf Columbia campus and relocate students to Frederick. It argues the plan is not an education-based decision but a budget cut, warns of costly campus alterations, disruption to students, and calls on state leaders to cut bureaucracy instead of harming vulnerable groups. The piece cites Dr. David Denton and references past state actions at Victor Cullen Center.

Steve Wilson Brunswick Support the troops

Anti-war protesters have done their best, they have tried to talk peace but the deed has been done. Operation Desert Storm is now a reality. Put down those signs, put up the American flag and bang out yellow ribbons for our fighting men and women in the Middle East. If they must have signs, use them for encouragement and Support, use phrases that will help our troops through this. They need us. The demonstrations will destroy our men and women more so than any Iraqi force because protesters will slowly kill their morale. They need to know we are behind them, 100 percent, whether it's right or wrong. So for once let us all get together and support our troops. Now is the time to show them they are loved, to show them we are praying for their safe return and last but not least, to give them "peace of mind" to let them know we support them wholeheartedly.
