Five area sites favored for $400 million AEC smasher
A Johns Hopkins engineer told the Frederick County Planning Commission that five potential sites remain for the 5000 acre atom-smasher plant to be built by a private contractor. Two sites are near Dickerson and Adamstown, with Adamstown highlighted for limestone bedrock water and power access. The plant would employ about 2000 people and is expected to be decided in a few weeks.

Fort Detrick Master Toolmaker Retires At 70
Milton A. Frank Sr., 70, retires after 19 years at Fort Detrick with six patents. His 1956 patent adapted a blender for leak proof tissue fluidizing in biological labs.
