Books at your Library A Pictorial Record Of Frederick
An exhibition at the C Burr Artz Library features Frederick scenes from fifty to sixty years ago. The display uses the library’s postcard collection, showing old storefronts, monuments that no longer exist, and cows in the business district. Highlights include the Diehl Memorial Fountain, the Visitation Academy grounds, predecessor churches, and views of areas around Union Knitting Mills and Gas House Pike. The local postcard collection, started recently, includes many donor cards, chiefly from Harriet E. Kolb, a former children’s librarian.
