In Middletown the ZS team edged out Valley by 32-31 after a late surge led by Wie Stitz who scored twice in the cadets comeback. Frederick trailed by five with a minute left as Stitz sparked a tense finish and Stockman sealed the win in a close county basketball game.

New York January 21 Lesnevich the durable light heavyweight champion from Cliffside Park New Jersey was honored as the man who did the most for boxing in 1947 when he received the Edward J Neil Memorial Award from the Boxing Writers Association of New York James A Farley former Postmaster General and New York Boxing Commissioner shared the honor with Lesnevich as he received the James J Walker Memorial Plaque for long and meritorious service to boxing Lesnevich also received a special Ring magazine award as Boxer of the Year and Ring magazine honored Jersey Joe Walcott for an outstanding performance in his heavyweight title serap with Joe Louis and Lavern
Decree of the Circuit Court for Frederick County directs a public auction by Farmers and Mechanics National Bank of Frederick as substituted trustee. On February 14, 1948 at 11 am at the Frederick City Court House Door the bank will sell No. 345 South Market Street with a 171 by 160 feet lot, improved by two three story brick houses, nine total rooms, bath, pipeless furnace, and garage. Terms: half cash day of sale, balance in 1 month with notes, or all cash. Deposit $750. possession subject to rent controls.
