A lively social week in Braddocksville featured a January 26 dance at Charles A Thomas's home hosted by Joseph Thomas Charles Grove Tolbert Summer Alan Webster and A Grembine. About thirty five couples attended with music by a Frederick city orchestra and varied neighbors from Walkersville Braddock Pleasant Street and nearby towns.
Officers of Father McElroy Council No 70 were installed at the Carlin House with Mr Philip Mander of Baltimore conferring honors. Elected officers include B Long, Eisenhauer, Diffendal, Wilson, McDevitt, Doll, Crimmins, and Crimm. trustees Wilson, Rodock, Kennedy. Dinner followed.
The Merchants Bank of Binghamton New York closed by order of a state bank examiner after days of review revealing a 15000 deficit. Erastus Hoss served as president with son F Ross Hoss as cashier as the bank’s doors shut and Hoss & Sons real estate firm assigned.
