Suspects tied to Brunswick Super Fresh robbery identified

Police say two adults from Howard County and a juvenile girl are suspects in the November 22 Brunswick Super Fresh armed robbery. Five employees were handcuffed and locked in a back restroom during the holdup. Arrest warrants list armed robbery and related charges.

Pavilion to rise at Roddy Road near covered bridge

Frederick County Covered Bridge Preservation Society plans to rebuild a park pavilion near Roddy Road bridge after receiving a county certificate of congratulations for preserving Loys Station Roddy Road and Utica covered bridges. The timber frame pavilion will include a surrounding fence with support from Coblentz Bros Joe Bailey and Everett Moser.

Charles Thomas Tom Smith Jr. 56 of Thurmont died Tuesday January 20 at Frederick Memorial Hospital. Thurmont orchardist Harry G. Black dies at 76

Harry Glenn Black, 76, Thurmont orchardist and longtime operator of Catoctin Mountain Orchard, died Monday January 19 at Frederick Memorial Hospital. Born March 6, 1921 in Thurmont, he founded the orchard in 1946 and held leadership roles in multiple horticulture groups. He was married to Helen Irene Hess Black since October 7, 1944. He served in several farm and horticulture organizations and was a lifelong Weller United Methodist Church member. Continued on Page A-4.
