New movement urged to end all prejudice in 1987
Dr. Joan Wallace of the USDA urged 600 attendees at the Alpha Phi Alpha Memorial Breakfast to launch a new movement in 1987 to combat all forms of prejudice. She called for nonviolent action, coalitions, and global peace as the King legacy inspires continued work for justice. The fraternity announced a King Memorial Fund drive seeking $300,000 for a National Mall memorial.
