Former pastor killed in Vienna 7 11 robbery
A former local resident and pastor Jesse Thomas Shriner, 46, was stabbed to death during a robbery at the 7 11 store on Cedar Lane Vienna. Police seek a young Black man about five nine, 185 pounds, who entered the store Saturday night and fled with about 100 dollars. Shriner was found dead at 7 28 a.m. Sunday after opening duties. An autopsy was pending to confirm time of death.

County lifts moratorium on tract off Linganore Road
The Frederick County Board of Commissioners voted to lift a two and a half year moratorium on a 260 acre tract off Linganore Road to permit the Edwin Lundgren farm site to be developed by a Washington DC syndicate. They also planned to consider lifting the moratorium on the surrounding five square mile Bartonsville area next week. The moratorium, set Aug 9 1972 to allow an I 70 N final leg and a bridge over Linganore Creek, was delayed by Tropical Storm Agnes. The decision preserves rights of area homeowners and awaits an environmental impact study slated to take about six months.

Local man charged in shotgun assault on wife and companion
Sylvester J. Morris, 41, of the John Hanson Apartments, was arrested on charges of assault with intent to murder his wife Betty Ruth Morris and Joseph Lewis Spriggs, 43, of Washington, D.C. A shotgun blast injured Spriggs in the face and pellets struck Mrs. Morris. Spriggs was treated at Frederick Memorial Hospital and Walter Reed Army Medical Center, while Mrs. Morris was treated and released.
