Court Upholds Adoption Ruling in Florida Case
Tuesday upheld the adoption of a year old girl by Montgomery County couple over the protests of her father Ralph W. Walker II, an employee at the Florida School for Boys in Marianna. Walker sought to block the adoption of Michilene by Mr. and Mrs. Davia A. Gardner of Suver Spring, whose custody had been granted after a brief marriage. The high court ruled the child’s best interests require the outright adoption by the Gardners. Walker had not sought to adopt the girl in his suit, only to remain her legal father.

High Court Reverses Co-Defendant Admissibility in 1958 Cumberland Robbery
The Maryland high court voided part of J A Gray's sentence for armed robbery after finding error in admitting a co defendant Howard Maurice Iser's admission at Gray's separate trial. The court ruled the legislature did not intend to make a co defendant's confession admissible to prove a defendant's guilt for the same crime. The case stemmed from a September 1958 attack in a parked Cumberland car, involving William J Cover, aged 50.
