County officials seek raises and policy shifts in Frederick session
Delegates push for a $30,000 raise after the 1990 elections with plans for a future hike after 2006 if not approved now. The measure would affect state’s attorney pay and judges, while tax credits for farmers and a move to place most attorney staff under the county system are discussed. Salary data show wide increases across school and county staff, with many promoted or moved roles driving the bumps.

Budget Fire and Rescue Fight EMSOF Funding Cuts
Fire and rescue leaders react as allegations arise that five million dollars were moved from the Emergency Medical Services Operations Fund. Lawmakers previously boosted motor vehicle fees to keep EMSOF solvent after a projected seven point three million dollar red in the next fiscal year. The fund, created in 1992 to support Maryland State Police helicopter fleets, now supports MIEMSS and local fire and rescue grants. Frederick County groups fear cuts will harm small departments, while EMS executives urge careful budget review as the General Assembly weighs transfers.
